Tuesday 30th September
We were given the brief for our specialist today, well I say a brief but it was really a presentation saying we can do what ever we like as long as it works and is interactive. So I see the following few days being fun trying to think of something to do ???
Thursday 2nd October
I think I have a solid idea on what I want to do now. I have decided to make a real world version of pong and other classic arcade games. I want to use Webcams to track people’s movements and then have a projector projecting the ball onto the floor.
Friday 10th October
Today we received the worst brief of them all, the dreaded dissertation. Ah well never mind better crack on and get some ink on that paper. I’m doing mine on the history and future of gaming.
Wednesday 15th October
I have been playing with Webcams in flash today, I’m going to look at online games for Webcams, and newgrounds is my first stop.
Friday 17th October
I have spent most of the last 2 days doing my dissertation and I have just handed in the first draft to bob. I wanted to get it done quickly as I wanted him to have a while to look through it without another 20 essays to think about.
Wednesday 22nd October
I have been working on the two-player aspect of my pong game working but with no luck. I have hit a brick wall with the code as I have never used the FMS before I don’t really know how to use it and the only person that can help is Liam but he’s with the first and second years, so I need to see Liam in the next few days and get him to shine some light on the FMS problems.
Wednesday 30th October
I still haven’t made any progression with my project now the projectors have gone walkies as well so I can’t test that part of my project out. I hope that they will be back by next week so I can have a play with them otherwise I’m going to turn up to the crit the week after next empty handed.
Friday 7th November
Little bit of a problem this morning, I went to work on my interactive pong game but the media server wasn’t turned on so I had to go in to get Liam to turn the dam thing on. But never mind its all up and working again now :)
Monday 10th November
Have been working on the single player blockout game this weekend have finished that off now. I wanted to make sure that it worked as if the pong game goes tits up, which is more than likely at this point, I still have something to show for my work. So that’s the positive news the negative is that obviously the pong game still doesn’t work and I still haven’t received any help from Liam.
Tuesday 11th November
We had our midterm crit today it was great getting to see what everyone had done, it was also great seeing that I wasn’t the worst off lol. I showed my blockout game as the pong game still isn’t working though Liam said that he should be able to see me at some point this week.
I also did some more work on my dissertation; I have nearly finished the second copy now. I have to get this finished soon though so I can concentrate on my specialist project because that is the major worry at the moment.
Wednesday 12th November
Finally got to see Liam today, I’ve only been waiting for 3 weeks! However, I haven’t made any progress surprise surprise. On the bright side I’m going to get the projector set up in the main room tomorrow.
